Stinville Corporation will repair the COMINT system on one of the Peruvian Air Force’s C-26B ISRs.

The aircraft is one of two of this model modified to a surveillance and reconnaissance platform.

The Peruvian Air Force (FAP) has awarded Stinville Corporation the repair of the communications intelligence system (Comint) of one of its Fairchild C-26B ISR aircraft. This aircraft is one of two units that were modified by the Israeli company Rada Electronic Industries to perform surveillance and aerial reconnaissance functions.

The Armed Forces Procurement Agency (Acffaa) selected Stinville Corporation as the only company that meets the technical requirements established by the FAP. It is also authorized by Thales Italia to provide support and maintenance services for radio navigation aid systems.

The Comint system installed in the C-26B ISRs includes an advanced technological suite comprising a high-resolution digital camera, electro-optical and infrared sensors, laser rangefinder, hyperspectral system, antennas for signal intelligence, broadband receivers, signal direction detector, satellite communications, UHF/VHF/HF radios and data links.

These aircraft, operated by the FAP’s Directorate of Aerial Surveillance and Reconnaissance (Divra), were modified starting in 2010 with an investment of more than US$15 million. However, the project experienced an 18-month delay, which led to the application of penalties to the contractor for non-compliance with delivery deadlines.

The repair of the Comint system is part of the FAP’s ongoing efforts to maintain and modernize its intelligence, surveillance and aerial reconnaissance capabilities.
