Stinville’s extensive experience in deploying remote sensing solutions, command and control (C2) systems, and SIGINT capabilities forms the foundation for designing defense solutions in the new operational theater.
This new scenario, marked by technological advances, geopolitical changes, and hybrid threats, presents a series of complex challenges:
- Multi-Domain Operations (MDO)
- Asymmetric and Hybrid Threats
- Cybersecurity and Cyber Warfare
- Battlefield Saturation
- Urban Conflicts and Close-Quarters Combat
- Logistics in Dispersed Environments
Stinville’s response to these challenges is embedded in its three main areas of action in the defense sector:
- 1. AEROSPACE SURVEILLANCE / AIR DEFENSE
- 2. ELECTRONIC WARFARE / ISR / AIRCRAFT CONVERSION
- 3. TACTICAL NAVIGATION AIDS
1. AEROSPACE SURVEILLANCE / AIR DEFENSE
Solutions based on Thales’ Ground Master radar family to detect, track, intercept, and neutralize aerial threats, including aircraft, ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, drones, and other unmanned vehicles. These systems combine sensors, radars, command and control systems, and interception platforms (systems or weapons).
GM400α
Thanks to digital beam technology, the GM400α detects targets ranging from fast fighter jets and missiles to helicopters and tactical UAVs. A unique feature of the GM400α is its ability to detect and track threats such as tactical UAVs flying close to the ground, hidden in clutter near the radar, while simultaneously detecting and tracking high-altitude targets like fighter-bombers at distances up to 515 km.
- Digital beamforming
- S-band with GaN technology
- Full domain coverage every 6 seconds
- Mean Time Between Critical Failures (MTBCF) > 3000 hours
- Operational availability >98.5%
- Single package in a 20-foot ISO container weighing 10 tons
- Planned maintenance with a limited team
Command, Control, Communications, and Intelligence System (C4I)
A set of configurable and scalable solutions adapted to operational organizations and deployed communication infrastructure. It can manage raw data from multiple sensors, as well as synthetic or unstructured information, with full traceability between collected data and generated intelligence.
- Intelligence requirements management and tactical exploitation system for all sources, with collection, fusion, and dissemination of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance
- Instant dissemination and updating of validated enemy situation through sensor-C2 integration, enabling shorter sensor-commander-shooter loops with reduced analyst workload
- Configuration: deployed all-source intelligence cell (ASIC)
- Level: tactical STAR unit (battalion or company)
- Host platform: intelligence center/shelters/mobile all-source intelligence cell
- Communications: line-of-sight, satellite communications, very high frequency, sensor data links
- Sensors: HUMINT, IMINT, SIGINT, OSINT, MASINT, and surveillance sensor systems
Interception Platforms
Surface-to-Air Missiles (SAM): Very short, short, and medium range.
The STARStreak High Velocity Missile (HVM) is best-in-class. It is a lightweight missile designed for short-range air defense (SHORAD), portable and capable of engaging a wide range of threats such as attack helicopters, unmanned aerial systems, and light armored vehicles at a distance of 6 km. With a speed exceeding Mach 3.0, it is the fastest missile in the SHORAD category and can be launched from various platforms.
Manufactured by Thales in the UK, STARStreak is deployed by the British Army, Royal Marines, and several export customers.
Interoperability
Capability to integrate with allied defense systems (NATO).
2. ELECTRONIC WARFARE / ISR / AIRCRAFT CONVERSION
Stinville has successfully converted SIGINT aircraft by integrating Thales’ airborne COMINT Solution (ACS), which provides powerful real-time passive tactical situational awareness and intelligence gathering capabilities for aircraft operating in dense signal environments.
It is based on high-performance interception and direction finding, multichannel monitoring, automatic geolocation of moving targets, and real-time automatic classification of all civil and military signals.
ACS is a high-performance airborne solution that enables searching, detecting, listening, direction finding, and locating all types of civil and military communication signals (fixed frequency, frequency hopping, burst).
ACS can be integrated into various platforms: aircraft, helicopters, and UAVs (MALE, tactical).
Different antenna solutions can be proposed. For large aircraft, blade antennas are suitable for high performance in location accuracy and Line of Bearing (LOB).
Additionally, Stinville integrates within the SIGINT solution:
BlackFish™ is a Tactical Satellite Monitoring System (TSMS), designed to passively and SIMULTANEOUSLY monitor Thuraya, Iridium, and IsatPhone Pro networks. The system detects and intercepts target terminals and call activity within the radio line of sight, including: voice, fax, data, and SMS (when available). BlackFish™ uses cutting-edge technology and is based on a Software Defined Radio (SDR), equipped with a powerful CPU and GPU processing capability, passively cooled to ensure maximum reliability and performance.
The highly sensitive L-band receiver front-end is oriented toward satellite communications, offering maximum out-of-band rejection of interference frequencies while being broadband and having excellent dynamic range to handle both near and far radio scenarios.
3. TACTICAL NAVIGATION AID SYSTEMS
Stinville is certified for the supply, deployment, and commissioning of Navaids (radio navigation aids) for both civil and military clients, thanks to years of collaboration with Thales Group, accumulating extensive experience and supporting multiple installations.
Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) is a crucial component for military pilots in conducting operations. TACAN, as a radio navigation aid, provides equipped aircraft with bearing and distance to a fixed base installation, temporary location, or naval vessel.
To further enhance its legacy of over 50 years in navigation aids, Thales acquired Moog’s surface navigation aids business to offer a more complete TACAN solution to customers worldwide.
With over 800 references globally and a large installed base in the United States, Thales has extensive experience in TACAN across all possible surface applications. TACAN equipment is deployed for both military and civil environments.
Thales is the only Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) that designs and produces both ground and airborne TACAN equipment, providing customers with full system capability expertise and interoperability.
Deployable ILS Systems (D-ILS) are designed to meet the most demanding operational conditions:
They provide safe, suitable, and effective precision approach and landing capabilities, supporting highly mobile forces at airfields worldwide, offering ICAO Category I capability for any aircraft equipped with Instrument Landing Systems (ILS).
Transportable by C-130 aircraft to the intended operational area
Deployment cycle includes site reconnaissance by the client and preliminary preparation before air transport and D-ILS deployment
The solution can be unpacked, installed, and repacked by three ILS technicians within 72 hours
Capable of operating as a regular NAVAID or as a fixed temporary restoration capability, where deployment and commissioning times are critical, for:
- Replacement or repair of an existing ILS
- On-site investigation tool
- Emergency and humanitarian response missions
